Pilot projects in Asia for qualified professionals who are interested in working in Germany
At the start of 2013, Make it in Germany launched a special service for qualified professionals from India, Indonesia and Viet Nam who are interested in working in Germany. The service, provided by a team of Make it in Germany advisors, offers qualified professionals local-based support as they prepare for their move to Germany. This can range from information events, to individual support with job-hunting and the application procedure, through to tips on preparing for departure to Germany. The advisors themselves originate from the respective countries but have previously spent time studying or working in Germany. They are therefore able draw on a wealth of knowledge and experience from both their country of origin and from Germany as they carry out their work.
In addition to the support offered to qualified professionals, Make it in Germany advisors also work to foster networks of German institutions based locally, providing advice on the best means of recruiting qualified professionals. The experience gained in these projects is also to be used for future initiatives aimed at securing qualified professionals worldwide.
The pilot projects are being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The project partner is the International Placement Service (ZAV) of the Federal Employment Agency (BA). The process of designing each individual project takes into account both the interests of the German labour market as well as the particular situation of the respective country of origin. Special attention is paid to ensuring that advisors do not actively approach qualified professionals for whom there is an urgent need locally. Advisors also co-operate with existing German development co-operation programmes.
