FIT schools

What is a FIT school?

A “FIT school” is one of more than 500 schools in national education systems which are part of the “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) network set up by the Federal Foreign Office and in which German language teaching is either starting or being developed. These schools are supervised by the Goethe-Institut. Here, the pupils have the possibility of sitting the “Fit in Deutsch" examination (Goethe Certificate) at two different levels. These are language examinations corresponding to levels A1 and A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) specially designed for children and teenagers. You can find out where there is a FIT school in your country from the PASCH network world map.

Goethe Certificate

The certificates of the Goethe-Institut are known the world over and are recognised by numerous employers and educational establishments as proof of proficiency, which for numerous pupils is an additional incentive to take them.

From beginner to professional, the Goethe-Institut language examinations comprise all levels from A1 (beginner) to C2 (the highest linguistic level) and comprise written and oral sections. You can find out more detailed information about examination content and admission conditions on the Goethe-Institut Web site. However, you do not need to attend a FIT school to sit one of these TestDAF (German as a foreign language) examinations. You can do this at Goethe-Instituts or Goethe-Institut partner examination institutes in Germany or anywhere in the world. You can find more details here.
