Updates on ‘Make it in Germany’
Study: Innovation needs migration
Qualified migration makes an important contribution to Germany’s innovative strength. A new short report by the German Economic Institute impressively shows that around 14% of all patent applications in Germany, i.e. one in seven, can now be traced back to inventors with foreign roots. By way of comparison, in 2000, the figure was only 4.9%. The contribution from the Indian-speaking world is particularly impactful: the number of patent applications has increased twelvefold. The trend is also evident on the labour market: the number of Indian STEM specialists in Germany has increased eightfold. To sum it up, skilled migration not only brings ideas, impetus and inventions, it is also a decisive lever for Germany's future viability.

The Hotel Fuchsbräu has found a special way to do this: new international trainees are repeatedly recruited through personal recommendations from existing employees and acquaintances. In our new video, Managing Director Denise Amrhein explains how the hotel structures its recruitment process, the role played by language training and team spirit, and how Ariatou, Gautam and Pascaline became part of the Fuchsbräu team.
