Newsletter: December 2025
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the last newsletter of the year!

Before we start the new year, we're pleased to share one last highlight from the world of logistics: in two new videos, we shed light on the topics of vocational training and integration. We accompany an international apprentice on his journey to becoming a professional driver and provide a company’s insights on successful onboarding. Complementing the videos, this newsletter introduces additional logistics-related offers available on Make it in Germany.

Make it in Germany is looking back on an eventful and successful year: we have continuously developed our platform to further support people on their path to working and living in Germany – from new visa overviews to reliable information on the Opportunity Card. We are delighted that we now reach over 135,000 people on social media and have been able to provide a wide range of insights into skilled labour immigration in 20 webinars held jointly with our partners.

We would like to thank you all for reading, sharing your thoughts and providing your valuable support.

Enjoy the read, have a wonderful holiday season and see you next year!

International apprentices and professionals in logistics
Video: Attracting professional drivers abroad
How is a logistics company in Germany securing tomorrow's workforce today? In the new video, Christiane Bauer and Stephan Schwarz report on how the "Why not Logistics" project attracts apprentices from Africa – and guides them through the entire immigration process.
The apprentices are supported every step of the way, beginning with the selection in their country of origin and the onboarding process up until the successful integration into German companies. The result: motivated, well-prepared young professionals who want to stay in the industry for the long term.

Video: Vocational training to become a professional driver
The second new video shows the perspective of an apprentice in the same company. Christian came to Germany from the Congo to train as a professional driver. The new language was a challenge at first, but his German improved quickly thanks to language courses before and after his arrival. Christian is happy with his decision and is looking forward to his future as a professional driver on German roads.

Brief report on the opportunity card
Since June 2024, the opportunity card has made it easier for qualified skilled workers from third countries to enter Germany to look for work, either via recognised qualifications or a points system. By mid-2025, around 11,500 visas had been issued, particularly to job seekers from India. The new brief report by the German Economic Institute (IW Köln) highlights the potential of the opportunity card, as well as current challenges and recommendations.
