Study: Innovation needs migration

Qualified migration makes an important contribution to Germany’s innovative strength. A new short report by the German Economic Institute impressively shows that around 14% of all patent applications in Germany, i.e. one in seven, can now be traced back to inventors with foreign roots. By way of comparison, in 2000, the figure was only 4.9%. The contribution from the Indian-speaking world is particularly impactful: the number of patent applications has increased twelvefold. The trend is also evident on the labour market: the number of Indian STEM specialists in Germany has increased eightfold. To sum it up, skilled migration not only brings ideas, impetus and inventions, it is also a decisive lever for Germany's future viability.

‘Anerkennung in Deutschland’: survey amongst skilled workers

Would you like to have your foreign professional qualification recognised in Germany? Or have you already applied for, finished or stopped the recognition process? If so, you are invited to share your personal experiences! The information portal ‘Anerkennung in Deutschland’ is currently conducting a survey among skilled workers who have obtained their professional qualifications abroad. All experiences, whether positive or difficult, will contribute to making recognition in Germany easier for skilled workers with foreign qualifications. The anonymous survey is available in German, English, Turkish, Arabic and Ukrainian and takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.
