ModuleWorks GmbH in Aachen is an IT company employing 107 people that develops CAM software components. With employees from 14 different countries, almost half the workforce is made up of people with a migrant background. ModuleWorks is an example of how a welcoming culture in action enriches day-to-day work in the company and at the same time contributes to its commercial success.
At ModuleWorks, the welcoming culture comes into play from the first contact. Before leaving their home country, the skilled professionals have the possibility of working for the company and getting know the work processes “remotely” during a probation period. This also allows the company to successfully integrate employees from very different cultural milieus into the company.
The personalised mentoring concept of ModuleWorks is a simple, effective and tailored aid to integration. Immediately on their move to Germany, a furnished flat is available for the employees and their families. Two people are at their disposal to answer questions and solve problems. At work, integration takes the form of 1:1 mentoring in the office; this ensures smooth initiation into business processes and helps familiarise the employees with the corporate culture. Last but not least, personal communication between the employees is facilitated and fostered through the use of English as the working language. Direct, swift communication is also made possible by an online chat function on the intranet.
ModuleWorks takes a flexible approach to respond to the different needs of each employee, provides security and is also concerned with ensuring successful integration even outside work. For this pioneering concept, ModuleWorks was awarded the 2015 Success in Diversity award by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
