Since the introduction of the Opportunity Card, an increasing number of skilled workers with this residence permit have been applying to companies. Employers therefore need to know how to assess such applications and hire these skilled workers. The new page on “Make it in Germany” provides a detailed overview.

Opportunity Card: How companies can hire international jobseekers

Holders of an Opportunity Card come to Germany to seek qualified employment. The advantage for employers is that these skilled workers are already in the country, making it possible to meet them in person, for example through a job trial. The new page on “Make it in Germany“ shows how Opportunity Card holders can be employed legally – from part-time work (up to 20 hours per week) and qualification measures (as part of the recognition process) to permanent employment.

Skilled workers who have questions about working and living in Germany can get advice from experts at the Federal Employment Agency via live chat. Advice is available in German and English from Monday to Friday between 9 am and 3 pm (CET).
