Sorry!

Unfortunately, you do not currently meet the basic eligibility requirements for a job search opportunity card in Germany. These are the requirements to be met:

  • You have a non-academic vocational or academic qualification of at least 2 years’ duration. The qualification is recognised by the state in the country in which it was obtained. Alternatively, you have completed appropriate vocational education and training with a certificate (category A) from a German Chamber of Commerce Abroad (AHK).

and

  • You can prove that you have German language skills at level A1 (CEFR) or above or English language skills at level B2 (CEFR) or above.

However, this does not mean that you are definitely not allowed to work in Germany.

We therefore recommend that you find out about alternative entry routes to Germany for prospective apprentices and (skilled) workers. For example, you can complete vocational education and training or a university degree programme in Germany.

Use the Quick-Check on the Make it in Germany portal to get an overview of the different options available.

Tip

Whichever route you choose, it is important to have some knowledge of German in order to find a job and generally get on in Germany. See our “Learning German” section for information on how to get support in learning the language.

Plese beware

These results are a non-binding assessment based on your selections. In order for the assessment to be accurate and helpful, truthful selections are required. The Federal Foreign Office is the only body responsible for issuing the opportunity card.
