Debit card
In many places, the debit card is still referred to as “Girocard” or even its predecessor, the “EC card”. This card gives you access to two debit card payment systems in Germany: chip-based payment, where money is debited from your account, and cash withdrawals from ATMs in this country. The card is issued by financial institutions in combination with a current account.
