Hallo, wir sind das Team des Lehrstuhls Computational Applied Mechanics, kurz CAM (https://cam.uni-wuppertal.de) , in der Fakultät für Architektur und Bauingenieurwesen der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal. Wir sind ein junger Lehrstuhl und beschäftigen uns mit der Modellierung und Simulation von Werkstoffen auf verschiedenen Skalen. Wenn Sie Spaß an numerischer Simulation, Festkörpermechanik und/oder Multiskalenmethoden haben, dann sind Sie bei uns genau richtig. Wir suchen Mitarbeiter*innen, die sich einbringen und dabei sich und das Team weiterentwickeln - werden Sie Teil unseres Teams!

mit 100 % der tariflichen Arbeitszeit in der Entgeltgruppe E 13 TV-L an.

Fachliche und persönliche Einstellungsvoraussetzungen:

-      Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium (Master oder Äquivalent) mit überdurchschnittlichem Ergebnis im Bereich Bauingenieurwesen, Maschinenbau, Mathematik, Computational Engineering Science, o. ä.
-      Gute Kenntnisse der Mechanik und Mathematik
-      Interesse an der vertieften Beschäftigung mit Modellierung und Simulation im Bereich der Festkörpermechanik
-      Wünschenswert, aber ausdrücklich keine Einstellungsvoraussetzung, sind Kenntnisse der Finite-Elemente-Methode und der Kontinuumsmechanik
-      Grundlagenkenntnisse in gängigen Programmiersprachen wie Python, Octave/Matlab, Julia, o.ä.
-      Gutes Englisch in Wort und Schrift
-      Erfahrung im Umgang mit Studierenden

Aufgaben und Anforderungen:

-      Engagierte Mitarbeit in der Forschung, insbesondere mit Bezug auf die Modellierung und Simulation von Werkstoffen auf verschiedenen Größenskalen
-      Vertretung der eigenen Forschung gegenüber Projektpartnern und Auftraggebern, sowie Teilnahme an nationalen sowie internationalen Fachkonferenzen
-      Publikation der eigenen Forschung in internationalen Fachzeitschriften
-      Unterstützung der Lehre im Bereich der Mechanik sowie Organisation und Durchführung von Übungen im Umfang von 4 LVS

Es handelt sich um eine Qualifizierungsstelle im Sinne des Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetzes, die zur Förderung eines Promotionsverfahrens dient. Die Stelle ist befristet für die Dauer des Promotionsverfahrens zu besetzen, jedoch vorerst bis zu drei Jahren. Eine Verlängerung zum Abschluss ihrer Promotion ist innerhalb der Befristungsgrenzen des Wissenschaftszeitvertrags-gesetzes möglich und erwünscht.

Professional and personal requirements:

-      Completed university degree (Master’s or equivalent) with above-average results in the field of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, computational engineering science, or similar
-      Good knowledge of mechanics & mathematics
-      Interest in the in-depth study of modeling and simulation in solid mechanics
-      Knowledge of the finite element method and continuum mechanics is desirable, but explicitly not a prerequisite for employment
-      Basic knowledge of common programming languages such as Python, Octave/Matlab, Julia, or similar
-      Good written and spoken English
-      Experience of working with students

Tasks and requirements

-      Committed collaboration in research, in particular with regard to the modeling and simulation of materials on various size scales
-      Representation of own research to project partners and clients, as well as participation in national and international conferences
-      Publication of own research in international journals
-      Support of teaching in the field of mechanics as well as organization and conduction of exercises with a scope of 4 lecture hours

This is a qualification position within the terms of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz), which serves to promote a doctoral process. The position is to be filled on a fixed term basis for the duration of the doctoral procedure, but initially for up to three years. An extension to complete your doctorate is possible and desirable within the time limits of the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz).
