The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) is a pioneer and a driver of bioeconomy research. The Microbiome Biotechnology department aims to harness the power of microbial communities for various applications in agriculture and environmental health. We use advanced microbiological and molecular techniques to explore the intricate interactions within microbiomes and develop innovative solutions. With a multidisciplinary approach encompassing microbiology, genetics, bioinformatics, and bioprocessing, the department aims to revolutionize industries through the manipulation and understanding of microbial ecosystems. To support laboratory activities in our department Microbiome Biotechnology, we are seeking a Laboratory Technician or Technical Assistant (m/f/d) Your tasks
- Preparation and execution of molecular biology experiments, with a focus on library preparation for high-throughput sequencing (e.g., Illumina),
- Isolation, cultivation, and characterization of microorganisms from plant and soil samples,
- Isolation of DNA/RNA, PCR, and electrophoresis,
- DNA purification and quality control,
- Planning and conducting greenhouse and pot experiments,
- Plant phenotyping,
- Data analysis using various software, including statistical software R,
- Participation in the operation and maintenance of the research infrastructure.
Your qualifications
- Completed degree in the field of biology, chemistry, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or comparable technical training,
- Extensive knowledge of molecular biology techniques, particularly library preparation for high-throughput sequencing,
- Microbiological knowledge and experience with laboratory work in safety levels S1/S2,
- Experience in isolating microorganisms from plant and soil samples,
- Fluency in English and German, both spoken and written,
- Structured and responsible way of working, commitment, and ability to work in a team.
