For our Berlin office, we are seeking a versatile and committed 

Project Manager (100% FTE, f/m/d)   

to join our international team starting 1 January 2027 or as early as possible until 31 December 2027 to work on projects alongside a Science Policy Officer. 

Your role: 

As Project Manager you play a key role in the implementation of the projects, you will be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and implementing project deliverables specified in respective grant agreement and work closely with our science policy officers. 

A central focus of this role includes leading ALLEA’s contributions to EU- or BMFTR funded projects as well as supporting wider science-policy and communications activities centred around research culture, research assessment, and evaluation. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Project Management: Organise and oversee the activities of working groups, committees, and task forces associated with the projects and related initiatives, prepare and manage events. 
  • Research & Policy Analysis: Engage in research, debate, horizon scanning, and stakeholder analysis within the realm of research culture and assessment. 
  • Drafting & Reporting: Support the drafting of statements, position papers, and reports based on expert input. Regularly report on project progress and outcomes to the ALLEA Director, Board, and Presidency. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Consultation: Establish and maintain productive relationships with European and international science policy stakeholders. Manage nomination and consultation processes for expert groups, liaising with member academies and fellows. 
  • Peer Review & Endorsement: Support and coordinate peer review and endorsement processes for related publications.  
  • Outreach & Dissemination: Represent ALLEA’s positions at official and public events. Work closely with the communications team to create content (website, social media, publications) and lead engagement events to promote project results. 

What we are looking for: 

  • At least 3 years of experience at the interface of science and policy and/ or science project management/ administration. 
  • A PhD or a Master´s degree in the natural or social sciences, ideally with some experience in working in interdisciplinary contexts 
  • Excellent oral and written proficiency in English, additional languages are an asset. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of scientific or science-policy projects, including managing budget lines, grant acquisition and reporting for third-party funded projects. 
  • Prior experience in scientific publishing or writing, and/or science communication is an asset. 
  • Prior experience working in/with European institutions, international membership or research performing organisations is desirable. 
  • An established network of relevant stakeholders at the science-policy interface on the European level is an asset. 
  • High interpersonal and intercultural skills, including experience in building and maintaining strong working relationships with a range of colleagues, as well as internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Excellent organisational and managerial skills, including for evidence gathering processes. 
  • Willingness to travel within the EU.
