Please consider before submitting an application. Join our new team at Tesla Engineering Germany in Freiburg as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern and support us with the introduction of new products, from early product development to full-scale production. Throughout your internship we empower you to work autonomously and encourage you to share your unique ideas on how manufacturing processes and products can be improved. You will gain valuable work experience, insights into high-level engineering and participate in the development of production steps for global products.

What You’ll Do

  • Work in the new product introduction (NPI) lab environment to bring up production for prototypes for new energy products
  • Troubleshoot production equipment as well as design new fixtures and jigs as needed
  • Collect data, visualize it and share outcomes with the Manufacturing and Design teams
  • Generate improvement ideas for manufacturing process steps like material handling, ergonomics and processing times with the team and implement them
  • Collaborate closely with several internal and external stakeholders, including the design team, lab operations, technical program managers and supply chain, amongst others
  • Plan and Conduct Manufacturing Design of Experiments (DoE) to optimize processes, improve product quality and identify the most efficient operating conditions

What You’ll Bring

  • Ongoing studies in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar field (preferably prospective master’s graduates)
  • Independent working style with strong analytical mindset/attention to detail and high-functioning interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional English communication with the ability to discuss any issues within interdisciplinary teams and various levels
  • Proficient in using CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred, CATIA is a plus) and basic programming skills (Python, Matlab or similar)
  • Previous internship including hands-one experience with hardware engineering, especially for electromechanical products is a strong plus
