Design engineer

Your responsibilities

For the construction of the main equipment licensed by tk UFT, detailed technical specifications and construction drawings must be created, which serve as specifications for the workshop documents to be created by manufacturers. The design and construction of this proprietary equipment must be adapted to the specific order. Another focus of the job is the technical processing of the order including monitoring of production by licensed manufacturers.
We use Inventor as a design tool
For these demanding tasks, we are looking to strengthen our equipment group with an experienced equipment engineer who, in addition to design experience, is well versed in using 3D design tools and has experience in processing delivery orders. The location is Dortmund, with occasional trips to suppliers and customers having to be planned.
The task:
• Expansion and maintenance of 3D models for the main equipment with the 3D software Inventor
• Creation of project-specific apparatus models/drawings according to process engineering specifications using the 3D software Inventor
• Evaluation of customer requirements and their implementation in the project-specific apparatus models/drawings as well as the specification for inquiry for manufacturers
• Compilation of inquiry and procurement documents to produce the main equipment for manufacturers
• Review of manufacturer documents (construction drawings, calculations, welding plans, manufacturing specifications, etc.)
• Participation in Pre-Inspection Meetings (PIM) at the manufacturer
• Supervise manufacturing and conduct inspection of major equipment
• Participation in the further development and optimization of the main equipment
• Participation in the creation of layout models/drawings according to process requirements, using the 3D software Inventor
You will be supported in your tasks by our experienced employees from the equipment group.

Your profile

You have
• a completed degree (BSc./FH), preferably in the fields of mechanical engineering, design/manufacturing/welding technology
• several years of professional experience in the field of design/manufacture of equipment
• several years of experience in processing delivery orders with own production
• Good written and spoken English language skills, experience in using modern PC software and communication (MS Office)
• Experience in using common CAD software (CATIA 5, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, Inventor, etc.), ideally (not necessarily) experience with Ansys FEM program CADFEM
• Experience in welding technology and non-destructive testing of components would be an advantage
• You enjoy working in a small team and are looking for a diverse, responsible role with a high degree of independence
• You would like to actively work with the world market leader in the further development of innovative technology
