Our task is to develop sustainable livestock farming in a globalized world. PhD student position (m/f/d)
The position will begin on April 1, 2025 for a fixed term of 58 months.
If the personal and collective agreement requirements are met, the payment will be in accordance with the collective agreement for the federal states (TV-L), pay grade E 13 TV-L (65%).
Your Tasks:
Work and own qualification (doctorate) within a third-party funded project “Reducing heat stress in grazing cattle and increasing resilience through agroforestry”. In a Germany-wide practical research network for organic farming, you will investigate the interrelationships between microclimate, animal behavior, trees and grassland on several farms with established silvopastoral systems.
Your Qualifications:
- Master's degree or equivalent qualification in veterinary medicine, animal science, biology or related biosciences
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior, animal physiology, animal nutrition and organic farming
- High motivation to work with cattle and sensor technologies (GPS, climate, video) on different pasture sites
- Knowledge in the areas of experimental design and statistical data analysis
- Good written and spoken German and English language skills
- Driving license class B and willingness to travel
- Commitment and ability to work in a team
